Shandong plans to build an important nuclear power base in the east coast of China

2019-11-01

"Shandong will promote the construction of two nuclear power projects, Haiyang and Rongcheng Shidaowan, and at the same time launch the development of new nuclear power plants in the province in time to build an important nuclear power base in the east coast of China." On October 30, Luan Jian, director of Shandong Energy Bureau, said at the China (Yantai) nuclear energy safety and 2019 Nuclear Power Industry Chain Summit Forum

In recent years, Yantai City, Shandong Province has determined the deployment of "cultivating a hundred billion level nuclear power equipment industry and building a new nuclear power industry city in China". The construction and planning projects include Haiyang nuclear power plant, Shidaowan nuclear power plant, Shandong Hualong No.1 nuclear power project of CGN and construction project of China Nuclear offshore floating reactor, etc.

Haiyang nuclear power station, which has been completed and put into operation, is located in Yantai. It is the largest single energy project in Shandong Province at present. Six million kilowatt nuclear power units are planned to be built. Two units of phase I project adopt the third-generation nuclear power AP1000 technology, which has been completed and put into operation on October 22, 2018 and January 9, 2019 respectively.

The operation of two units of Haiyang nuclear power plant has achieved the breakthrough of "zero" of nuclear power units in operation in Shandong Province. At present, the accumulated power generation has exceeded 20 billion kwh.

Shandong Rongcheng Shidaowan high temperature gas cooled reactor project is planned to be completed and put into use in 2020.

According to the interface news, at present, CGN Shandong Hualong No.1 project is carrying out preliminary work, which can meet the needs of industrial heat, urban heating and desalination in the surrounding areas after the completion of the project; the construction project of the floating stack Yantai of CNNC is in progress.

Luan Jian pointed out that the current Shandong nuclear energy industry has entered a golden opportunity period. "The next step will be to focus on the research and development of the third and fourth generation nuclear power technology, fast reactor, modular small reactor and other major key technologies." He said.

As of June this year, China has 47 nuclear power generating sets in operation, with an installed capacity of 47.73 million kilowatts, ranking third in the world; 11 nuclear power generating sets under construction, with an installed capacity of 12.08 million kilowatts, ranking first in the world.

In view of the future development of China's nuclear power industry, Shi Lishan, deputy director of the nuclear power department of the state energy administration, suggested at the meeting that we should adhere to the problem orientation and make up the short board of "neck sticking" in key nuclear power technologies. At present, a small number of nuclear power core components and basic materials in China still rely on imports, such as nuclear power core chips and software, core, measuring instruments, etc., as well as fuel back-end cycle technology and decommissioning technology.

He also suggested that we should give full play to the role of information technology in nuclear power safety. As a high-end technology intensive industry, nuclear power should actively promote the integration of information technology and cutting-edge technology such as big data and financial computing in all stages. In addition, we should further study the application of blockchain technology in the field of nuclear power.

At the meeting, Yantai city signed comprehensive and deepened cooperation agreements with China Guanghe nuclear power group, China nuclear industry group and state power investment group, involving nuclear power, comprehensive utilization of nuclear energy, new energy projects, equipment manufacturing, etc.

At the same time, Yantai city has signed a cooperation agreement with China shipbuilding industry group to introduce large domestic equipment manufacturing enterprises and build a new equipment manufacturing base in Yantai. (From CNNPN)
